Strong ties between people and trees can be found in almost every religion, mythology, legend and tradition. Their physical nature and composition are often the basis for stories full of magic and supernatural abilities. 

Linden is a tree widespread throughout the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere, where we know about 35 species. In the Czech Republic, we have two original types of linden, the large-leaved linden and the small-leaved or heart-shaped linden. The linden tree was chosen as the official national symbol of the Czech Republic in 1848. It is also the Czech national tree.
