Santa Claus is a Slavic mythological figure, similar to the Christmas elf or Father Christmas. Originally, Santa Claus was the personification of winter and frost, but over the centuries he has evolved into a kind figure who brings gifts to children on New Year's Day.
Santa Claus has a long white beard, a red or blue fur coat, and a tall hat. He carries a magic staff in his hand that can freeze water and create snow. His typical companion is Snow White (Snegurochka), his granddaughter. He often rides in a sleigh pulled by horses or three white horses, which is a traditional Slavic custom.
Santa Claus comes with gifts on New Year's Day, not Christmas. This custom became established during the Soviet Union, when religious holidays were suppressed.
The coin has the special oval curve of a real Russian nesting doll, has beautiful coloration and comes in a two-dimensional nesting doll case along with a certificate of authenticity. A beautiful mix of different icy colors gives the coin a frosty winter look.
