The third coin in the Crown Jewels series takes a closer look at the Baring Ruby necklace, which Queen Elizabeth II acquired in 1964 and is among her most famous pieces of ruby jewelry. Its clusters of brilliant rubies and diamonds, culminating in a dramatic three-piece centerpiece, have been worn to many banquets and formal occasions – with one particularly notable moment coming in 1977 when she opened the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa.
The reverse of the coin is adorned with 20 red and 27 white crystals, all set in silver mounts. The reverse of the coin features the Baring Ruby necklace as separate elements – the neckline and the center element of the pendant. The silver mounts are made of .925 sterling silver and plated with rhodium.
The coin is encased and shipped in a black Royal Canadian Mint branded clamshell case with a black paper box. Limited mintage 6000 pcs.
