The Royal Mint has been innovating and minting coins for over 1,000 years. In 2021, Britannia, the symbol of Britain, is a pioneer in redefining security in the precious metals market, embodying this pursuit of the best in design and security. This latest 1oz Britannia takes Philip Nathan's interpretation of Britannia and adds four ground-breaking security features to create the world's most visually secure coin.
These additions decorate and protect the coin, as well as the micro text bordering the design - DECUS ET TUTAMEN. In the lower left of the design, below Britannia's billowing dress, is a trident, representing her naval history. When the viewer changes their perspective, this trident becomes a padlock, emphasizing the secure nature of the coin. The animation of the surface behind Britannia reflects the movement of the waves and fine details such as the Union Flag on the shield of Britannia.
This is the third silver coin in the series to carry the new security features.
