The reverse takes us straight to the climax of the Sherlock Holmes novel The Sign of Four by Arthur Conan Doyle. In the centre of the composition, we see Sherlock Holmes in a long coat, holding in his hand a valuable pearl covered in selective gilding – a key piece of evidence in the case that sheds new light on the mystery of the mysterious packages received by Mary Morstan. Standing nearby is Dr. Watson, elegantly dressed in Victorian suit, with the inherent seriousness and concern of a devoted friend and adventurous companion.
The obverse of the coin features the issuer’s coat of arms, perched high above Tower Bridge. Spanning almost the entire width of the design, this iconic London bridge presents its monumental structure in a way that conveys both architectural precision and historical grandeur. It is surrounded by decorative ornaments and features an eye-catching 3D pipe-shaped insert at the bottom edge of the obverse.
