2 oz Dragon Trsat 6 Euro Croatia 2024 BU Ag

The Croatian National Bank in cooperation with the Croatian Mint has issued a silver collector's coin "Trsatský drak". Minted in 999.9/1000 silver in brilliant uncirculated quality, the coin comes in a box with a certificate signed by the Governor of the Croatian National Bank. The total issued quantity of the silver collector's coin with a nominal value of 6 Euro is limited to 1000 pieces.

Basilisks, commonly referred to as Trsat dragons in Rijeka folk lore, are mythical creatures with characteristics of a snake, a dragon and a rooster. They are considered to be the guardians of the Trsat nad Rijekou fortress and were an integral part of the noble coat of arms of the Nugent family. Their creation was entrusted to the renowned Viennese sculptor Anton Dominik Fernkorn, whose works left an indelible mark on Croatian sculpture of the 19th century.

This unique coin has a deep historical and cultural background, inspired by the Trsat dragons, or basilisks, bronze sculptures created in the first half of the 19th century at the request of Austrian Field Marshal Count Laval Nugent. The numismatic edition of the "Trsatsky Dragon" coin features a dragon sculpture on both sides. The author Natalia Danysz is signed under the artistic design of the issue "Trsat Dragon".

The coin comes in an acrylic frame with a wooden stand, certificate and packaging in an elegant paper box.
