The reverse of the coin depicts the Charon, according to mythology, when a person died and their soul entered the underworld, Charon would transport them across the river Styx or the river Acheron, which separated the world of the living from the world of the dead. In exchange for his services, he would collect a fee, typically an obolus (a small coin) placed in the mouths of the deceased before their burial rites.
